상황 : 선상가옥이 아주 큰 잠재가치가 있음을 말하고 있음

A : For me, as a business guy, I see a massive opportunity to blow this place out of the water.

• blow out of the water : 1. To totally defeat or ruin someone or something 2. To thoroughly impress, overwhelm, or excite one.

상황 : 엄청 좋은 위치에 있는 말리부 하우스. 하지만 집 상태가 엉망이다. 위치는 정말 좋군, 하고 있는 상황.

A : Well, can’t argue with the location.

B : The location, for me, is mind-blowing.

• Mind-blowing : If you describe something as mind-blowing, you mean that it is extremely impressive or surprising. [informal]

 

3.

상황 : 텍사스의 집이 위치는 완벽한데 가능성을 완벽하게 끌어올리지 못하고 있다~ 하고 소개하는 상황

A : The location is perfect, but it’s not living up to its potential.

• Live up to : v.fulfill
  ex. the president lived up to his promise to set America swiftly on a new path

상황 : 주인이 management firm의 충고를 받아들이지 않고 돈을 잘 못 벌고 있음. 그래서 management firm 사람들과 집주인과 mc들이 다 모여서 이 상황을 타개해 나갈 방법을 찾아보자 하는 상황.

A : He’s going to be really in trouble. I’ve invited them to the property, so we can all meet and let’s hash this out.

• Hash out : to talk about something with someone else in order to reach agreement about it:
  ex. You two hash out the details of the presentation.

 

5.

상황 : 집주인이 이 집으로 돈을 벌고 싶어요.. 근데 management firm에 들이는 비용을 생각하면 사실상 잃고 있죠. 결국 목표는 투숙율 80%까지 올리고 돈 두 세 배 버는 거에요, 하는 상황.

A : … but I’m losing a little bit of money every month when you factor in the money I have to pay the property management company. My goal is increase the occupancy to run 80 percent. It’s really a function of, can I double or triple what I’m getting?

• Factor sth in : to include something when you are doing a calculation, or when you are trying to understand something:
  ex. People are earning more, but when inflation is factored in, they are no better off.
  ex. The age of the patients and their overall health must be factored into the results.

 

6.

상황 : 집에 쓸데 없이 있는 오피스룸 버리죠, 하자 나 여기서 일 많이 하는데, 일 안 하잖아, 하고 꾸짖고 있는 상황.

A : When was the last time you worked in this room?

B : …

A : The sigh says a lot.

B : Judging by the mouse and the monitor, it was the ‘80s you were last in here!

A : Damn, kitty has claws!

• The sigh says a lot : 침묵하자 그 침묵이 답을 다 말해주네, 하는 표현.
• Kitty has claws : 지렁이도 밟으면 꿈틀해!

상황 : 집 고치는 비용의 대부분을 backyard에 투자할거야.

A : But we’re funneling the majority of our budget into the backyard space.

• Funnel : to move or be moved through a narrow space, or to put something in a place or use something for a particular purpose:
  ex. The crowd funneled into the theater.
  ex. We’ve been funneling our money into renovations.

 

8.

상황 : 마케팅에 관한 조언을 하는 중. 이런이런 리스트에서 발전할 부분을 말해볼게요.

A : I wanted to kind of just… jump into the listing, regarding some suggestions where I think there’s room for improvement.

• There’s room for improvement : 발전할 여지(공간)이 있는~
